Yesterday was media day at the Canadian International Autoshow and I was lucky enough to check it out with my friends from Ford Canada. I've been a car guy ever since I was a kid, always dreaming about owning a 1969 Shelby Mustang or a 1995 Porsche 911 Turbo. There's just something so exhilarating about speeding through the countryside in your favourite car.
I remember when I was about 18 I was working at a dealership in Hamilton, Ontario. I was taking a customer back to his home after he had dropped off his BMW for service and he started telling me about his 2005 Porsche Carrera 4S. I told him how much I loved Porsche's and how they were my dream car and he asked me if i'd like to see it when we got to his house. I happily accepted his offer and once we arrived he pulled it out of the garage and asked if I wanted to take it for a spin. I couldn't believe it, i'd always wanted to drive a Porsche and here was my chance. I backed it out of the driveway and we headed up the Hamilton escarpment. I was so focused on not damaging the vehicle that I have no idea how fast I got it up to, I do however remember not getting it out of 4th gear because that thing was a beast!
