If you're anything like me you'll jump at a chance to enjoy some great Scotch and if that's the case then there's no better time than Robbie Burn's Day. The real question is which Scotch would Robbie Burn's have drank if he were alive today. I've chosen 3 great Scotch whiskies and one made in Canada Rye (If you're not a fan of Scotch) to help you celebrate this Wednesday January 25th.
The Famous Grouse
Robbie or “Rabbie Burns” is affectionately known as Scotland’s “favourite son”. It seems fitting that he would enjoy a dram of the number 1 best-selling Scotch whisky in his home nation of Scotland, The Famous Grouse.
Bowmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 Year Old
This premium Single Malt expresses the essence of Bowmore with a rich amber colour and subtle notes of citrus and honey with a distinct smokey flavour. The Bowmore Single Malt is best served neat.
Highland Park Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 12 Year Old
My personal favourite is the Highland Park 12 year old single malt. This award winning Scotch has a rich amber colour and features aromas of sweet honey with a light peat note. This one is a definite crowd pleaser.
Canadian Club – Chairman’s Select 100% Rye
If Scotch isn't your thing than this 100% Rye Whisky, made in Ontario, will go great in your favourite cocktail. It's the perfect addition to any Old Fashioned or Manhattan. The sweet , creamy and warm palate is balanced by rye spice flavours and followed by a long finish showing dried fruit, ginger and honey.
