Top 5 Summer Must-haves

Every season has it's staples and Summer is no different. Toronto has such a spectrum of weather throughout the year that you end up having a very wide range of clothes. From parkas to sandals and everything in-between. This is my list of the 5 Summer pieces that you gotta have.

5. No-show socks

When it's 30 degrees plus (celsius) in Toronto you look for any way to keep cool. That means letting your ankles breath! I almost exclusively wear no-shows in the summer due to the crazy heat, these ones from Taft are great with the no-slip tech these things will stay on your feet all day.

4. White Sneakers

Nothing says summer like white sneakers. They are the first thing I break out when all the snow and slush leaves the streets of Toronto. The dry humid days make it much easier to keep these bad boys clean. This classic pair from Converse is hands down my favourite. They are super comfy and can work with anything from shorts to a perfectly tailored French Blue suit. If you're in the market for a new pair you can't go wrong with a classic.

3. A Slick Polo

There are days in the summer when it's just too damn hot for a suit and tie. On those days you can just as easily bust out a perfectly fitted polo and still look sharp. This patterned number from Ted Baker will do the trick. Pair with a nice set of white jeans and you'll be the best dressed guy in the office, or on the patio because let's be serious, everyone spends their days on the patio in the summer.

2. Great Sandals

Now you have to make sure you take good care of your feet when you're planning on wearing sandals. No one wants to see your gross nails and toes, so make sure you take care of those bad boys first. Once you've done that you can go ahead and pick up these wicked sandals from Birkenstock. I've had my Birkenstocks for going on 9 years and they're still kicking. They are the most comfortable sandals you'll ever wear (once they're broken in).

1. White Jeans

When it's warm and the sun is shining you want to mimic the bright colors of the summer in your outfits. The easiest way to do this is by starting with some white jeans. These ones from Banana Republic are even stain resistant (it can be nerve-wracking wearing white jeans). They'll look great with everything from a jean shirt to a tank top.
